JOIN THE SAN JOSE SHARKS AT THE 2025 STATE OF THE CITY EVENT AT ARENA GREEN

Join the San Jose Sharks organization for a high-energy day of community spirit, civic pride, and hands-on impact as we team up with the City of San Jose and hundreds of local volunteers. It all kicks off with the 2025 State of the City address from Mayor Matt Mahan in Arena Green East, just outside of SAP Center, followed by service projects that will help beautify the park and the Guadalupe River area.
You’ll get your hands dirty planting, painting, picking up litter, spreading mulch, and more—all supplies provided. S.J. Sharkie will be there to cheer you on, and when the work’s done, the celebration begins with food trucks, music, and games right back in Arena Green East!
This is your chance to give back, get outside, and show what it means to support San Jose.
Register and bring your family and friends! All ages are welcome to participate—just note that volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult guardian.

SHARKS TO SELECT SECOND OVERALL IN THE 2025 NHL DRAFT

The National Hockey League held the 2025 Draft Lottery on Mon., May 5 and after a dramatic finish, it has been determined that the San Jose Sharks will hold the second overall selection in the Draft.
San Jose entered the draft lottery with the best odds (18.5%) to win the first overall selection, but the New York Islanders (3.5%) pulled off an upset to capture the rights to the #1 pick in 2025.
Similarly, upon running the lottery again to determine the second overall selection, the Utah Mammoth, who held only a 1.4% chance of being selected, won the right to move up to the #2 position. However, because lottery rules state that a team may only move up a maximum of ten draft positions, Utah – who was originally in the 14th draft position – were only allowed to move up to the fourth overall draft position, allowing San Jose to retain the second spot after being bumped down by the Islanders.
The 2025 NHL Draft Lottery operated as such: A set of 14 ping pong balls were placed in a lottery machine, which allows for 1,001 combinations. Each team in the lottery was assigned a set of random four-number combinations. The worse a team's record was in the 2024-25 season, the more combinations they were assigned. Only the 16 teams that failed to qualify for the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs were eligible for the lottery.
The 2025 NHL Draft will take place on June 27-28 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Last season, the Sharks selected Macklin Celebrini with the first overall selection and on the same day as the NHL Draft Lottery, Celebrini was named as one of three finalists for the Calder Memorial Trophy, presented to the NHL’s top rookie.
With a strong emphasis on drafting and player development, the Sharks prospect system has been ranked as the best in the National Hockey League. The Future is Teal!!!
SHARKS MAKE WISH BECOME REALITY AS MAKE-A-WISH KID LUKE SCHUMANN MEETS SHARKS PLAYER MACKLIN CELEBRINI AND TEAMMATES

Since its inception in 1991, the San Jose Sharks have committed to being a good community partner and making a difference in the lives of others. That was, once again, on display in early April when the Sharks partnered with Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area to fulfill the wish of 5-year-old Luke Schumann of Lakeville, Minnesota.
A few days after his fifth birthday, Luke was diagnosed with a rare form of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Luke underwent surgery to remove the tumor followed by chemotherapy throughout the summer. He completed his chemotherapy treatment in September 2024 and is currently cancer-free.
Luke’s wish to meet his favorite NHL player, Sharks rookie sensation Macklin Celebrini, and attend a San Jose Sharks practice and a home game was granted on April 4 and 5 when the Sharks organization treated Luke and his family to an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
On Friday, April 4, Luke and his family watched Sharks practice from the players’ bench, skated with Celebrini and his Sharks teammates and coaches, and toured the Sharks practice facility.

The wish continued Saturday, April 5 when Luke attended the Sharks home game vs. the Seattle Kraken. Luke and his parents were picked up by Celebrini at their hotel and were driven to the game by Macklin. Once arriving at SAP Center, Luke and his family toured the venue and watched warm-ups from the Zamboni entrance. Before the game, Luke read the starting line-up to Sharks players and stood on the coaches’ bench with the team and coaching staff during the National Anthem. His family watched the game from a concourse suite and then came down to the locker room for a special meet-n-greet with Sharks players after the game.

Overall, it was an incredible experience for an amazing young man and his family who have endured so much over the past few years. To see more from Luke’s magical weekend with the San Jose Sharks, check out the recap video HERE.
